Description

The Vita Nova Trawler (Z588) was built in 1967 in Belgium and spent some time in Ireland. Then was decommissioned and ended up in Millom, Cumbria.
It was sold as scrap to a family who converted it into a houseboat and was anchored just off the causeway between Rampside and Roa Island, UK. The family lived on her until the really high tides at the end of 2014/early 2015 washed her ashore.

I have a reference photo from a friend, but for my watercolor painting, I included the wreck in sunset light, giving a peaceful scene, with seagulls soaring above. The rays of the setting sun lit up the trawler, casting a warm glow on its rusted metal and peeling paint. The waves lapped at the shore, and the sound of seagulls echoed in the air.
This scene is a reminder of the majesty and power of the sea, and the fragility of all things in its path.
With my watercolor paints and a paintbrush, I tried to give more life to Vita Nova Trawler, keeping the melancholy and good memories.
